Darwin and Mendel published their most important works within seven years of each other, establishing modern biology on the foundation of evolution. Resistance to evolution education was strong then, and that resistance has grown along with mounting scientific evidence supporting the reality of evolution. The challenge science teachers continue to face is how to dispel the notion that established science does not need to be a threat to faith.
